Israeli Knesset member admits failure in Gaza war, blames Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir

Yoav Segalovitz, a Knesset member from Yesh Atid, admitted to Israel’s failure in Gaza, blaming Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir for rising crime and insecurity. Israeli forces were wounded in a resistance ambush in Shuja'iyya, prompting helicopter evacuations.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Yoav Segalovitz, a Knesset member from the Yesh Atid party, has admitted to the failure of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

On Tuesday, Segalovitz discussed crime statistics in the occupied territories and the Gaza war during an interview with Channel 12.

Reacting to the rise in crime rates, he blamed Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir for the deteriorating security situation, calling them the main culprits.

Segalovitz, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Public Security, criticized Ben-Gvir’s performance, stating that over 100 people have been murdered since the beginning of the year, with several violent incidents occurring in the past week alone.

He emphasized that combating violence is the cabinet’s responsibility, noting that crime rates have surged by 130% since Netanyahu took office, which he described as a gross failure of leadership.

Segalovitz called for Ben-Gvir’s removal, urging the appointment of competent officials and better coordination with the Arab community in the occupied territories.

He accused Netanyahu’s cabinet of neglecting crime prevention, leading to a sharp rise in murders, with 106 recorded in 2022, 244 in 2023, and 237 in 2024.

The former Deputy Minister of Public Security blamed Netanyahu for the crisis, stating that his appointment of Ben-Gvir normalized the selection of incompetent individuals and former criminals for ministerial positions.

He added, “When a racist criminal holds a ministerial position, no one should be surprised by the worsening insecurity.”

Segalovitz also criticized Ben-Gvir’s policy of distributing firearms to the public, warning that increased access to weapons threatens community safety.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that several Israeli forces were wounded in a resistance ambush in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of eastern Gaza City.

Reports confirmed that helicopters were dispatched to evacuate the wounded soldiers from Gaza.

Additionally, the Israeli army announced on Tuesday that three soldiers from the Givati Brigade were killed in northern Gaza, while two others were wounded.
